MINDS MATTER
BY FSK THERAPY

Trauma, Attachment & Integrative Therapy in Stockton-on-Tees and Online

About Minds Matter

Minds Matter is a private therapy practice based in Stockton-on-Tees, offering in-person and online therapy to adults and young people. Founded by accredited counsellor and therapist Fran Kerr, Minds Matter offers a warm, down-to-earth and individual approach to therapy, with particular experience in trauma, attachment, anxiety and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. With over 25 years’ experience working with people and families, I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to understand what is happening for you and find a way of working that fits you.

Welcome

I'm Fran Kerr, an accredited integrative counsellor and therapist, clinical supervisor, EMDR practitioner and qualified hypnotherapist, with over 25 years’ experience working with people and families.
My particular areas of experience are trauma and attachment, including understanding how our earlier experiences can continue to affect the way we feel, respond and relate to others in the present.

I don't believe one approach fits everybody. My work is integrative, which means we can draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you, what you are experiencing and what you need from therapy.

Alongside psychotherapy, I also offer EMDR, hypnotherapy, Reiki and Belief Coding. I am based in Stockton-on-Tees and work with clients from across Teesside, County Durham and the wider North East. I also offer online therapy for clients who prefer to work remotely or live further afield.

If you're considering therapy but aren't sure what kind of support you need, please feel free to get in touch.

We can begin by talking about what is happening for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch to find out more.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can help you explore thoughts, feelings, habits and patterns that may be difficult to change through conscious effort alone.

I use hypnotherapy in a calm, supportive and individual way, helping you to understand what may be sitting beneath an unwanted behaviour or response and supporting you to make positive changes.

Every person is different, so sessions are tailored to you, what you would like to work on and what feels comfortable for you.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a recognised psychological therapy commonly used to help people process traumatic or distressing experiences.

Sometimes difficult experiences can continue to feel very present, even when we know they happened in the past. Certain memories, situations or triggers can bring back powerful emotions, physical sensations or automatic responses.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, alongside therapeutic processing to help the brain work through experiences that may have become ‘stuck’, reducing the distress associated with them.

Therapy
Counselling

Therapy gives you a space to talk openly about what is happening for you, without judgement and without having to look after anyone else's feelings.

You may be struggling with anxiety, relationships, difficult experiences from your past, feeling overwhelmed or simply noticing that the same patterns keep appearing in your life.

Together, we can begin to understand where those feelings and patterns come from, what may be keeping them going and what you need in order to move forward. Therapy isn't about telling you what to do. It's about helping you understand yourself better and supporting you to make changes that feel right for you.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle complementary wellbeing practice that some people find deeply relaxing and calming.

As a trained Reiki Master, I offer Reiki in a quiet, supportive environment using gentle hand positioning, either lightly on the body or just above it, depending on your preference and comfort.

People choose Reiki for many different reasons, including relaxation, taking time out for themselves and supporting their general sense of wellbeing. Experiences vary from person to person, and Reiki is offered as a complementary practice rather than as a replacement for medical or psychological treatment.

Belief Coding®

Belief Coding® is an approach that explores the beliefs and patterns we can develop through our experiences and how these may continue to influence the way we think, feel and respond.

Sometimes we know consciously that we want to change something yet find ourselves repeatedly falling back into familiar patterns. Belief Coding® offers a way of exploring what may be sitting underneath those patterns and the beliefs we have developed about ourselves, other people and the world around us.

I offer Belief Coding® as one of a number of approaches within my practice, depending on the individual and what feels appropriate for the work we are doing.

Our Services
Reiki Training

I offer Reiki training for those who would like to learn Reiki for their own personal development, as well as for those wishing to progress through the different levels of Reiki practice.

Training is available at Reiki Level One, Level Two and Master/Teacher level and is delivered in a relaxed, supportive environment.

You don't need any previous experience to begin at Level One. If you're unsure which course is right for you, please get in touch and I'll be happy to talk you through the options.

Meet Eddie

Eddie is my therapy dog  and a much-loved member of Minds Matter.
He's a small, curly Cavapoo with a big personality and a rather impressive ability to know when somebody might need a little extra company. Eddie has been part of the therapy room for many years and, for clients who enjoy having him around, he can bring warmth, calm and the occasional bit of light relief to a session.

Of course, not everybody wants a dog involved in their therapy, and that's absolutely fine. Eddie's involvement is always led by the needs and preferences of the client.
When he isn't working extremely hard at being a therapy dog, Eddie can usually be found sleeping, looking for his ball, searching for snacks or generally supervising proceedings.
He takes all of these responsibilities very seriously.
